Who we are
ScreenSwytch is made by a small team based in the UK. We're the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@screenswytch.co.uk.
What we collect
Two kinds of data:
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, work email, business name and any message, when you get in touch, start a trial or buy a licence.
- Licensing data from the app itself. When a device activates, ScreenSwytch sends a pseudonymous machine ID (a one-way hash, never the raw hardware identifier), the device's name (its Windows computer name, so an IT administrator can recognise which device it is), the app version, and your coarse country. It does not send browsing history, files, screenshots, your IP address, or any other personal or business data from the device.
How we use it
We use contact details to set up trials and accounts, issue and renew licences, invoice you, and answer support requests. We use the machine ID, device name, app version and country to activate licences correctly, keep an accurate seat count for your organisation, and let your own administrators see and manage the devices on their licence. Device information is only ever visible to your organisation's own administrators and to us for support, never to other customers.
Lawful basis
We process this data to perform a contract with you (setting up and running your licence), and where relevant, on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and keeping the service running.
Retention
We keep contact and licensing data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet accounting and legal obligations. We don't keep data longer than we need it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, and to ask us to move it elsewhere. To exercise any of these rights, email support@screenswytch.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we've got something wrong.
